• I use Tableau when I need more control over the design of my dashboards. And no offense to Power BI, but I find Tableau to be a more creative and fun tool to use.

  • User Experience for Sharing Content: Tableau Cloud is making strides, especially with Connected Apps for embedding into "analytics portals" so kudos to Tableau! But the basic Cloud and Server falls short...
  • Price: Simply put, it is higher than Power BI
• I use Power BI when I need more control over the data within my dashboards. Power BI's Query Editor and Data Modeling modules beat out Tableau Prep every day of the week.
  
  • Competitive Advantage: It's Microsoft, if you're already in that universe you'd need a compelling reason to step outside for Tableau
  • User Experience for Sharing Content: Power BI's online workspace is easier to manage and their apps provide that "analytics portal" feeling, got to give it to 'em!
  • Price: Power BI Pro subscriptions get most clients everything they need. Tough to beat that...

Alternatively, for Microsoft loyalists, Power BI is a no-brainer, with its seamless integration with Microsoft tools like Excel, Teams, and Azure; making Power BI is often the go-to choice for organizations already in the Microsoft ecosystem.
